Every effort has been taken and no expense in time has been spared to offer a map rich in all the detail as it was original drawn. Text is included with the map explaining the location as well as the events portrayed. These maps are from both the Union and the Confederate perspectives of each location. Both large scale engagements as well as smaller battles are depicted.

These are the same maps found at the Library of Congress, drawn by the Union Corps of Topographical Engineers as well as the Confederate Topographical Department. These maps were made under primitive field conditions with little more than a prismatic compass, spy glass, and a traveling artist sketch kit. The map maker often had to work in the enemy’s own territory to gather information vital to the accuracy of the document.
